The exhibition itself was particularly notable for the Katonah Gallery, drawing 14,684 visitors, reportedly the largest attendance in the gallery's history at the time. It was organized by William Kelly Simpson shortly before the opening of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Egyptian wing and the arrival of the Treasures of Tutankhamun exhibition in New York.
