Vintage Richard Hudnut Du Barry Face Powder Box – Special Rachel Cameo Portrait

A beautiful vintage Du Barry face powder box by Richard Hudnut, decorated with an oval portrait of Madame du Barry surrounded by ribbons, radiating lines, and scalloped turquoise and burgundy detailing. The combination of the oval form, illustrated portrait, and wonderfully theatrical packaging makes this an especially pretty piece of vintage cosmetic ephemera for a vanity or boudoir collection. The bottom identifies the shade as Special Rachel and the original size as 2 oz.

The Special Rachel shade was part of Du Barry's face powder range by the late 1930s and remained in the line through the 1940s and beyond. Richard Hudnut began substantially repackaging the Du Barry line around 1948–49, which helps place this particular packaging within the broader mid-century period.

Condition
Good vintage condition with visible age-related wear. There is discoloration, fading, and finish loss around the outer edges and underside of the box. The illustrated top remains colorful and displayable. The interior protective paper film has been torn at the top and the powder is loose. Please review photos closely for cosmetic condition.
